About this Research Topic
We are pleased to introduce the collection Highlights in Psychology: Coping Strategies.
Coping strategies are behavioral and cognitive tactics used to manage crises, conditions, and demands that are appraised as distressing. Such mechanisms are a vital part of human behavior and necessary for successfully navigating our way through life. Coping strategies can be grouped into two broad categories. Emotion focused coping strategies attempt to adjust the emotions caused by a stressful event, whereas problem solving coping strategies attempt to modify the environment or situation.
This Research Topic will highlight a selection of articles around coping strategies and showcase the broad diversity of research performed across the Psychology field, ranging from Clinical Psychology to Organizational Psychology, from Educational Psychology to Sport Psychology.
We welcome original research and state-of-the-art reviews as well as other article types addressing, but not limited to, the following theme:
Social support on stress coping strategies
Ability perception and competitive stress coping strategies
Coping strategies across life-span
Review of coping models
Victimization and coping strategies
Coping strategies in psychopathology and psychotherapy
All contributions to this Research Topic must be within the scope of Frontiers in Psychology and within the scope of the section to which they are submitted. Frontiers reserves the right to guide an out-of-scope manuscript to a more suitable section or journal at any stage of peer review.
